My favourite sculpture on the Notre Dame campus, The Visitation, by Rev. Anthony Lauck, CSC

A somewhat clumsy image of two women reaching around pregnant bellies to embrace. It reminds me that we needn’t let our own awkwardness and fear get in the way of sharing the life and love inside of us.

As I was about to post I remembered that I posted the same image last year on this day so I looked back. Twelve months ago the sculpture reminded me how friends open our eyes to the good things in our lives.

That’s the mystery of art; it can tell us as much about the viewer as about the subject and the artist!
